Every Season has it’s own wonderful quality. I have my favorites as I’m sure you do and Spring is one. I love seeing my flowering trees starting to bud, my flowers popping out from the ground after hibernating all winter, and hearing the bird’s excitment for the warmer weather. I also love that we can be outside and my daughter can play outside for longer than 5 minutes. She loves the outdoors as much as I do.
I came across this idea for Valentine’s Day with a heart shape and thought an egg shape would be cute too. My kindergartener helped so this is a great Spring activity if you get stuck indoors because of the Spring showers and storms.
What you’ll need:
- Black Construction paper (the colors show up really well with black, we tried white and other colors and decided this would be best.)
- Assorted color of buttons found at your local craft store (Walmart has them too)
- Mod Podge
- Paint Brush
- Frame (you pick the size, I’m not going to tell you how big to do your egg)
- Instead of me doing this project I thought It’d be a great activity for my kindergartener to do. I drew an egg shape and put the Mod Podge on one section at a time since it dries quickly.
- Buttons! Got a big package of them at Walmart. They also have them at your local craft store. Feel free to get some bling ones. I just wasn’t willing to pay that much… I’m cheap. Sometimes. Anyway, all you have to do is randomly or if you want to do a pattern you can place the buttons around and in the drawn egg. If you have never used Mod Podge before well… welcome to your new addiction. This stuff can do it all. Don’t fret of the milky color it dries clear. That’s why I love it so much with kid projects. Just make sure you have newspaper or something to cover your surface because it’s a pain to get off.
- Every Saturday is half off day at the Goodwill. Have you ever been to the Goodwill on this day? It’s crazy, like Black Friday! I am not a good shopper especially with lots of crowds but I chalked it up to the experience and got a ton of stuff for cheap like this frame for .25 (I can’t find a cent sign on my keyboard what’s up with that?). I didn’t like the color of the frame for this project so I decided to spray paint it black.
- I got a glitter pen and wrote Spring on it so we can have it up all season. I’ll get better at this photography thing. Promise.
- That’s it! A simple and cheap activity that you can do with your kids if you got ‘em. If not you get to have all the fun ;) Happy Spring!!
